A Career as a Recruitment Consultant


Recruitment Consultants have a busy, sometimes frenetic, daily schedule and their work is always varied. The primary role of a Recruitment Consultant is to work with client companies and to build relationships with individuals involved in the hiring process in order to understand the best way to fulfil their job requirements. This includes developing a good understanding of the client’s company, their industry, what they do and their working culture. The role is very sales orientated and involves winning new business by differentiating from competitor companies through fresh, innovative thinking and a determination to impress.

Recruitment consultants also match candidates to temporary or permanent positions with client companies. They interview candidates and obtain references and provide advice to both clients and candidates.

The role also involves a large amount of working towards targets that relates to the revenue generated and the number of candidates placed in contract roles or on a permanent staff basis. In order to be effective as a Recruitment Consultant at Blueprint, it is important to spend as much time as possible speaking to clients on the phone, whether on business development calls or in arranging interviews and start dates for candidates. This also involves negotiating pay and salary rates and finalising the arrangements for the candidate to start a new role with the client.
