Kier and Murphy are two of the contractors chosen to work on a £1bn five-year contract with Thames Water to renovate and replace their existing water networks.
The contract will deliver essential improvements ranging from water maintenance and construction services, logistics management and customer services beginning in April 2015 for the AMP6. However there is a strong possibility that this may extend to a 15 year contract due to extending regulatory periods for AMP7 and AMP8, if the work achieved in the first 5 years is up to scratch.
Agility Consortium, comprising Murphy and Morrison Utility Services and Consortium KCD, involving Kier and Clancy Docwra, have all been selected for this contract due to their “cultures and behaviours” apparently aligning with Thames Water’s own values.
Thames Water managing director of wholesale water, Bob Collington OBE commented on the joining of these two consortiums saying “we strongly believe these two alliances will create aligned goals and objectives throughout the supply chain, standing us in the best possible position to deliver our customer and stakeholder promises”.
The contract will provide hundreds of jobs across the UK which as recruiters we are extremely happy about. We are currently recruiting for a Senior Civil Engineer and CAD Technician, both specialising in water, to get involved with two separate projects.
