Exciting times stand for those involved in the Crossrail project, Europe’s largest infrastructure project, as a 465-m long concreting train has arrived at the Plumstead railhead in South-East London marking entry into the next phase of development.
The train will hold the responsibility of laying track over the beds of the project which stretch across 26 miles of the country North to South - this phase of the project will begin next month beginning from Plumstead down the route.
Crossrail programme director Simon Wright has commented: “Crossrail is being delivered on time and within budget.
“Following the completion of Crossrail’s 26-mile tunnelling marathon, our focus has shifted to the fit-out of the tunnels and stations.
“The arrival of the concreting train at Plumstead, the logistical nerve centre for this phase of Crossrail’s delivery, will bring us another step towards the completion of this major new railway for London and the South East.”
