Crossrail Tunnels Project has Breakthrough
Posted on: 31/10/2014

Crossrail Limited, who is currently in the midst of Europe’s largest infrastructure project, has recently made substantial developments in its completion. The project will see a 73 mile long railway constructed across London and the wider London area, stretching between 10 entirely new stations and 40 existing ones.

Whilst full completion is not expected until 2018, last week the tunnel between Victoria Dock Portal to Limmo Peninsula was structurally completed. Constructed within only six weeks by a tunnel boring machine this progress stands as a good indication that the project is running according to schedule and is currently upholding to the budget.

Whilst there is still a long way to go until the tunnels will be in service Simon Wright, Crossrail’s Programme Director stated “The end is in sight for Crossrail’s tunneling marathon. Having successfully delivered all bored tunnels west of Farringdon and east of Whitechapel, we now begin the final push to complete tunneling at Farringdon next year. The next challenge is to fit out the tunnels and stations with systems to run Crossrail trains through central London in 2018.”

This is exciting news for anyone working and living in London as once open, Crossrail will increase London’s existing rail-based transport capacity by 10%, allowing for more comfortable and faster transport across the city. In addition to better transport links the completed project will also boost the opening of 75,000 business opportunities and an increase in house value along the train route.

As many of our positions are based in London the Crossrail project is of large significance to us here at Blueprint. Once up and running the Crossrail transport line will enable a large number of staff to travel to the London area, enabling a wider range of work options and an easier commute.

If you are looking to begin work within the London area please give us a call today to find out about the wide range of opportunities we are currently recruiting for 02392 60 30 30.
