The College Road Tower, designed by AJ100 practice Darling Associates, has received the green light by the local council to be built on a car park currently used by Croydon College.
Construction of the 37-storey tower will begin in 2015 for the mixed-use tower block and will be comprised of a hotel, gym, apartments and a restaurant; with completion expected in 2017.
The lowest 11 stories of the tower will house a 225-bedroom hotel, which is hoped will increase visitors to the area thus boost the local economy. Whilst on the upper floors a total of 159 apartments will be included, contributing again to London’s ever increasing housing shortage- however only 18 units will be ‘affordable’. At ground level there will be a pedestrian link between East Croydon Station and College Green to allow for easier access and commute around the area.
Darling Associates, the architects responsible for the build, have already constructed a residential tower in this area so are well aware of the surrounding areas- something they insist will be upheld by their tower.
There are hundreds of residential projects like this planned for 2015, if you are looking for the opportunity to get involved please call us on 02392 603030 or have a look at our current vacancies.
