HS2 Seeks Contract Bids
Posted on: 19/03/2015

High Speed 2 is looking for bids for its contract worth between £250M and £350M within the first ten years alone. The scheme promoter is searching for a delivery partner “to provide additional services of a similar nature until the full opening of the HS2 Phase 1 railway services to the public and completion of associated activities.”

The partner will be responsible for the “management and coordination of engineering and environmental design development by separate design organisations, and support the management of the programme of ECI {early contractor involvement} delivery contracts.”

HS2 has also initiated their procurement process for smaller contracts which will include works such as design management and support, site clearance, demolition and construction management.

HS2 commercial director Beth West said: “To deliver Europe’s largest infrastructure project on time and on budget, we need to work closely with suppliers to ensure that sufficient planning is in place before the start of the formal procurement process. These contract awards do not pre-empt the granting of Royal Assent for the HS2 Bill currently going through Parliament. Only essential work would be carried out in preparation for the main construction period in 2017.”

Not only will the HS2 project provide a substantial improvement to current UK infrastructure, it will also provide a substantial amount of jobs to the local area and all across the supply chain.
