Pinnacle Tower Construction to Restart
Posted on: 02/01/2015

Developer Stuart Lipton is rumoured to be chasing a deal which will see them rebuild London’s £1bn Pinnacle tower, replacing the current “helter skelter” design with a more modern and efficient building.

Construction of the building originally began in 2008, but has been on hold for over a year due to lack of funding thus has been lying dormant with only the initial concrete core made- earning it the nickname “the stump”. Upholding to rumours that circulated early last year, Lipton has prepared a design team, which is already fully supported by equity investors including Axa Consortium, in a bid to take over the construction of the building.

With expectations of the bid being completed this side of Christmas, London could be about to gain hundreds of new office blocks due to Lipton Rogers insistence to focus the building on an affordable office scheme.

However delays could be caused by the need for new planning permission as Lipton’s design team- which includes Karen Cook, the architect responsible for the design of the original pinnacle- have decided to scrap the existing helter skelter design to achieve a more cost efficient design.

The pinnacle lies in a prime position within the busy city of London and offers massive potential for any developers; therefore Lipton’s decision to make a bid for this development is an extremely good one. Providing hundreds of jobs during the construction and increasing the availability of office space will both significantly contribute to the economy of the city and increase our potential as an international competitor.
