MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER

Location : LONDON
Rate : Negotiable

Blueprint recruitment have an opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join a reputable M&E design and build consultancy who provide project solutions within the water and wastewater industry! The role includes both design and installation responsibilities so experience in both these areas of water would be required.

It offers payment outside IR35 and will provide flexibility for a hybrid approach with offices and sites in the London region.

Role duties:

·         Produce mechanical detailed design, mainly working on repairs, upgrades, and installations.

·         Liaise with team of designers including mechanical, electrical, civil.  

·         Develop mechanical design deliverables.

·         Prepare commissioning documentation and provide supervision of process.

·         Co-ordinate closing stages to end users.


Key Requirements:

         Previous experience within the Water industry, minimum 3 years.

         Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

         Experience of design and site work.

Location: London

Contract Length: Initial 6 month

MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER

Location : NEWCASTLE
Salary from : £ 30,000 per


Your key roles and responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the senior Engineers, Associates, and Directors in undertaking mechanical design and consultancy work, producing mechanical design drawings, calculations (using Hevacomp and IES etc)

  • Reports, specifications and schedules

  • Liase with other design members internal and external whilst representing the business at meetings where appropriate

  • Fulfil the technical responsibilities of a mechanical engineer including but not limited to:

  • Carrying out Surveys of existing facilities and preparation of survey reports

  • Assisting with early-stage design works, load estimates and assessment of plant area spatial allowance

  • Assisting in the production of reports as required, including relevant supporting documentation and building regulations

  • Production of CAD drawings

Essential skills, experience and attributes:

  • Competence in AutoCAD and knowledge of Revit

  • Studying towards chartership and maintenance of CPD requirements

  • Knowledge of energy and thermal modelling software such as IES

  • Good numeracy, literacy and computing skills

  • Effective communication skills

  • Ability to present and explain the thought process behind your own design work

  • Engineering degree preferred (Minimum engineering HNC/D or equivalent

  • Previous experience in a building services consultancy

Blueprint Recruitment Solutions have a fantastic opportunity for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a prestigious consulting practice located in Cambridge. Our client has a wealth of experience working on a vast array of notable projects and are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis.

As the selected candidate, your role will include (but is not limited to):

  • Preparation of documentation including, basis of designs, technical/design specifications, assessment reports, procurement specifications, survey reports, tailored to required stage of project completion, covering all aspects of mechanical services
  • Implementation of detailed surveys of mechanical services and equipment to establish status of the existing installations and gain sufficient information to recommend new/upgrade design proposals
  • Compliance with Construction (Design and Management) Regulations, current legislation and standards associated with all engineering aspects of delegated project
  • Producing and reviewing mechanical design drawings incl. HVAC, water, drainage, etc. 

The ideal candidate must have these essential skills and qualifications:

  • Experience in building services within the built environment, preferably in the Laboratory, commercial, defence, energy and healthcare sectors
  • Degree qualified in building services engineering specialising in mechanical with 2-5 years’ experience
  • Chartered Engineer, actively working towards chartership
  • Up to date knowledge of current building regulations, legislation and standards applicable in building / infrastructure design environments
  • Knowledge of BREEAM and DREAM
  • Extensive experience using mechanical engineer design software, such as Revit, NBS Create and IES
  • Experience of BIM
  • BPSS cleared or ability to get clearance 

You must also be eligible to gain SC clearance and therefore be a British passport holder, having lived and worked in the UK for the last 5 years.
