Hazard Identification Lead

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Hazard Identification Lead, to work for Rolls-Royce SMR in Derby or Warrington. This is a unique opportunity to work on safety analysis for the design of a new nuclear power station that will contribute to the global reduction of carbon emissions and the establishment of a world class testing capability.

About the Role:

As the Hazard Identification Lead you will report to the Nuclear Safety Case Lead and will play a key role in supporting the development of the UK SMR Power Station and the completion of the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) and the Environment Agency Generic Design Assessment (GDA) process.

About You:

You will have a degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or similar discipline. You will also have:

  • An understanding of hazard identification reviews and their role in safety, security and environmental case development

  • Experience in undertaking or participating in hazard identification reviews

  • Previous training as a HAZOP chair

  • Experience in different types of hazard identification reviews for different stages in the design process

  • Experience of working with engineering on safety analysis to support the design process


Key Responsibilities of the Role will be:

  • Plan, co-ordinate and manage hazard identification reviews across the whole of the power station design for the duration of the development process.

  • Working closely with the engineering disciplines to ensure that the correct safety reviews are undertaken commensurate with the design phase.

  • Management of outputs from safety and engineering development reviews.

  • Creation and management of a hazard log.
