Responsible for ensuring that the technical and performance requirements of the solution defined in the prime contract are issued to the designers and work package contractors

  • Coordinate technical support from our in-house specialist functions (TD-E, TD-E EC&I, TD-E CHP Engineering, IWE Operations, Energy Markets, Supply Chain, Legal, Finance, Risk & Assurance, Insurance, Planning, Permitting)

  • Resolve technical issues by identifying options, arranging workshops with the design team so resolutions are achieved.

  • Ensure the Project Manager is aware of any risks or technical issues that may impact the programmed or performance of the contract

  • Responsible for the technical aspects the work packages including compiling scopes of work, developing relevant technical specifications, completing technical evaluations and provide technical support to finalise contracts.

  • Owns:

    • Engineering responsibilities matrix and engineering plan

    • Drawings and documents register

  • Manage technical aspects of all the various stakeholders that will impact on the solution: Client, DNO, gas network, EA, Planning, equipment suppliers, contractors etc.

  • Lead and manage the Reviewable Design Data process with the Client

     

  • Develop the commissioning strategy and programme

  • Oversee and witness the commissioning of the works to validate the deliverable are met and the contractual handover requirements are achieved

     

     

     

    The experience you will need

     

    Essential:

  • A qualified engineer in the mechanical field and/or building services field with the awareness of civil and electrical engineering.

  • Previous experience within the energy industry and/or building services - particularly energy, power and utilities (steam raising, CHP, compressed air, chilled water and District Energy Network).

  • Able to articulate complex technical concepts and commercial considerations.

  • Track record in working on concept design development into detailed design, evaluating project risks, managing and design team and management of the Review of Design Documentation processes

  • Track record in managing detailed design integration and supporting construction and commissioning activities.

  • Good understanding of thermal processes and relevant British Standards and Codes of Practice, in the fields of steam, hot water, heat exchanger, hydraulics, pressure losses to lead design reviews.

  • Strong health and safety knowledge to cultivate the “think safe, work safe, home safe” culture, including familiarity with the CDM regulations.

  • Commercially astute with experience of balancing design excellence versus costs

  • Experience of coordination and managing multiple disciplines to create a well engineered and working solution
