IES THERMAL MODELLER

Location : BIRMINGHAM
Salary from : £ 30,000 per Annum

Exciting new opportunity for an IES Thermal Modeller to join an award-winning building services contractor Working on some of the highest profile projects in the industry on a permanent basis.

 

You will be joining a small team of thermal modelling experts where you will undertake advanced simulation and thermal modelling using IES software. This will include energy calculations, overheating analysis and generation of building thermal loads. You will also be responsible for producing Energy Strategies and Statements for submission to planning authorities, and comply with Building Regulations L2 assessments for new and existing buildings.

 

As the ideal IES Modelling Engineer you will have a good understanding of MEP and mechanical services, as well as relevant Building Regulations. You will also have a good knowledge of IES software such as Mode IT, Apache, and Compliance. You will also have great organisational and analytical skills to provide attention to detail and the ability to write high-quality reports is also important.

SENIOR STRUCTURAL ENGINEER

As the Senior Structural Engineer, you will support the team with business development, project management, technical delivery, service development and development of others. You will have a chance to interface with a wide range of disciplines within the company and work with clients such as private developers, local governments, design consultancies and construction contractors. Typical projects include structural analysis, design and appraisals (concrete and steel) that are interfacing with or being constructed adjacent to onshore gas infrastructure within the UK.

 

Role:

 

  • Interface with clients and assist in developing new business opportunities.

  • Prepare bid documentation to ensure bids are delivered within agreed timescales and to clients’ expectations.

  • Manage projects to ensure that the clients’ scope is delivered within the timeframe, costs and agreed quality standards following internal regulations.

  • Ensure that site visits, project reports/ drawings and other forms of documentation follow the high standards expected by our client.

  • Travel within the UK and overseas for various periods will be required.

 

 

The ideal candidate will have:

 

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or another relevant discipline.
  • Significant experience in a technical leadership role with direct involvement in the design process.
  • Experience in working with British Standards and Highway Standards (in particular Eurocode 2, Eurocode 3 and DMRB).
  • Full driving licence.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Project management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills – including the ability to write clear and concise reports.
  • Ability to robustly analyse and present complex solutions and ideas.

Advantageous:

  • A Chartered Engineer with some years of post-chartered experience, including knowledge of construction activities.

  • Experience in working with the UK Gas Industry Civil Engineering (CE) suite of specifications for the 'Design, Construction and Testing of Civil & Structural">Civil and Structural Works'.

  • Knowledge and Experience of Health and Safety, including CDM Regulations 2015 and the ability to write method statements and undertake Risk Assessments.

  • Experience of working with 'Tedds', 'AutoCAD' and 'STAAD Pro'.

  • Holder of a valid and up-to-date ‘CSCS’ card and Confined Space Training.
