ELECTRICAL DESIGN ENGINEER

Location : BIRMINGHAM
Salary from : £ 45,000 per Annum

Fantastic new opportunity for Senior to Associate level electrical design engineers within the building services to join a leading M&E consultancy on a permanent basis in Birmingham. Our client is a large award-winning MEP consultancy with an excellent reputation for pioneering thinking, known for working on highly technical projects such as datacentres and commercial projects. Due to a high volume of demand for their services, they are looking for Electrical Design Engineers to specialise on datacentre projects on a permanent basis.  

As the successful electrical design engineer, you will undertake a client facing role in the development, design and coordination of engineering project services. Our client is looking for a passionate and dedicated Design Engineer with excellent technical, design and software abilities. Within this role you will be assisting with developing and encouraging sustainable designs on projects. Not only is this a client facing role, but you will be involved heavily in the hands-on design aspects of projects, both supporting the more senior members of staff and mentoring the junior ones, as well as running projects yourself. The successful applicant will need to demonstrate skills within the following areas;

 

  • Dynamic individuals with strong building services background and proven experience on datacentre projects.

  • Chartered or working towards Chartered status

  • Working knowledge of technical software including Amtech, Dialux, Relux and general calculation related software such as Autocad

  • A track record of leading projects and teams and have good commercial awareness gained through your substantial experience

  • Knowledge of sustainability and have a good knowledge of renewable energy systems

  • Knowledge of existing standards and ability to develop requirements for new building service projects

  • Excellent time management skills, demonstrating the capability to proactively implement plans, follow through with sustained execution, and to meet project milestones

  • Forward thinking and able to anticipate problems

  • Good supervisory qualities and experience, including excellent communication skills

  • Highly motivated with the drive to take on new challenges

Excellent opportunity for an experienced Revit MEP coordinator to join a leading MEP Contractor on an initial 3 month contract basis in Birmingham.


The selected Revit MEP Coordinator will have a variety of roles and responsibilities, including:

·         Producing and developing detailed Revit MEP models

·         Assisting with the change and coordination of relevant drawings

IES THERMAL MODELLER

Exciting new opportunity for an IES Thermal Modeller to join an award-winning building services contractor Working on some of the highest profile projects in the industry on a permanent basis.

 

You will be joining a small team of thermal modelling experts where you will undertake advanced simulation and thermal modelling using IES software. This will include energy calculations, overheating analysis and generation of building thermal loads. You will also be responsible for producing Energy Strategies and Statements for submission to planning authorities, and comply with Building Regulations L2 assessments for new and existing buildings.

 

As the ideal IES Modelling Engineer you will have a good understanding of MEP and mechanical services, as well as relevant Building Regulations. A new opportunity has arisen for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join an established consultancy in the West Midlands.


Key Attributes:

 

  • Strong geotechnical design / analytical capability in relation to slope stability, retaining walls, pile design, anchors, soil nails, foundations, drainage.
  • Experience in the preparation of construction drawings, specifications and designers risk assessments
  • Good understanding of ground investigation methods and interpretation of ground investigation results.
  • Ability to identify and assess defects / instability features in earthworks, retaining walls and drainage systems.
  • Experience in the design and specification of remedial solutions and preparation of options.
  • Experience in preparing geotechnical desk study and interpretative reports.
  • Experience of working in the rail environment desirable.
  • Experience in managing geotechnical projects.
  • Experience of costing works and budget control.

  • Ability to work alone and within a team.
  • Previous appointment as CRE would be advantageous.

Key Responsibilities:

 

Projects typically include the inspection and assessment of embankments, cuttings, retaining walls, culverts and drainage assets predominantly within the rail network, the consideration of options for remedial or upgrading works and the design and specification of practical solutions. 


The successful candidate will undertake the role of CRE and be responsible for preparation of project plans, implementing site surveys, coordinating and supervising the design teams, management and checking of designs, preparation of reports, specifications and drawings, allocation of resources, budgetary control and ensuring works are completed to project specific requirements and in accordance with our HSQE procedures. 


Responsibilities will also include mentoring and coaching of design engineers, liaison with clients and suppliers and development of commercial and contractual arrangements.
