Civil Engineer – Drainage & Infrastructure (Contract)

Rate: £40–£47 per hour (Outside IR35)

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Civil Engineer with strong drainage design experience to join a well-established engineering consultancy in London on a 6-month contract outside IR35.
This role offers the chance to work across a diverse portfolio of infrastructure and development projects, including regeneration, education, healthcare, industrial, aviation and recreational schemes.
The successful Civil Engineer will take ownership of project delivery, acting as a client-facing engineer responsible for managing design outputs, coordinating teams and delivering technically robust drainage and infrastructure solutions.
This is a hybrid role, requiring 3 days per week in the London office.
Key Responsibilities
As a Civil Engineer, your responsibilities will include: Leading the delivery of drainage and infrastructure design projects Producing and reviewing drainage calculations, drawings and technical reports Designing SuDS, drainage systems and water management solutions Managing projects from concept through to detailed design Acting as a client-facing engineer, attending meetings and presenting design solutions Coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, including structural engineers and architects Ensuring designs comply with industry standards, regulations and best practice Identifying and managing technical risks and design challenges Supporting project delivery within programme and budget requirements
Requirements
To be considered for this Civil Engineer role, candidates should have: Proven experience working as a Civil Engineer within infrastructure or development projects Strong experience in drainage design and water management Experience designing SuDS and drainage systems Ability to manage and deliver projects independently Experience in client-facing roles and stakeholder engagement Strong technical and problem-solving skills Excellent communication and coordination abilities
Experience working across sectors such as regeneration, education, healthcare, aviation or industrial projects would be beneficial.
