Our client is a worldwide manufacturing organisation who are looking for a Process Engineer to join their Special Cables Manufacturing facility in the Southampton Area. The Special Cables facility produces copper conductor cables for energy transmission.

Working as a member of the Special Cables Process Engineering team, the key responsibilities of this role will be to apply engineering solutions to support and improve all aspects of the manufacturing processes such as product quality, material efficiency and productivity. Although the role is office based, considerable time is spent in manufacturing areas. The role may require occasional work-time flexibility to complete projects around factory hours.

Role/Responsibilities:

  • Use Lean/Six Sigma tools to continuously improve production.

  • Identify and achieve material and productivity cost savings.

  • Interpret design specifications and create clear process instructions.

  • Supervise all materials sourcing activities (44* orders, 45* orders review, production and purchasing exceptions).

  • Supervise invoice queries resolution.

  • Create and control ad hoc KPIs.

  • Keep the Aged Stock of RM within acceptable levels.

  • Liaise with Sales and Engineering departments regarding specific orders, customer enquiries and development with focus on materials sourcing and quality requirements.
