ICA TECHNICIAN

Location : OXFORDSHIRE
Salary from : £ 30,000 per

Our client is a major company in the UK Water Sector who are looking for an ICA Technician to join them on a permanent basis in Oxfordshire. This role will be a part of an industry-leading engineering team that can achieve the company’s ambitions for AMP7. This is an amazing opportunity to work for a unique and rewarding company within the UK Water Sector.

Role:

  • Installing, modifying and commissioning new plant equipment and diagnosing and repair faults on systems and plants.
  • Working alongside mechanical, process and electrical technicians.
  • Liaising and supervising contractors and suppliers.
  • Carrying out instrumentation, control and automation maintenance on a variety of water assets including planned maintenance and defect maintenance.
  • Delivering cost-effective improvements to assets and systems.
  • Conducting risk assessments and create appropriate method statements when required to safely carry out maintenance activities.
  • Providing specialist technical advice.
  • Carry out planned maintenance work in compliance with company procedures in order to minimize plant breakdowns.
  • Support project development and input into capital delivery projects.
  • Investigate the nature of plant failures.
  • Examples of some instrumentation you could be working on are flow meters, pressure levels, ultrasonic, radar, gas detection, PH monitors.

To be successful you will have the following skills and experience:

  • A good, of operational plant and control systems.
  • An understanding of Wonderware and Clear SCADA (desirable).
  • Knowledge and experience working with relay logic and PLCs (Allen-Bradley).
  • Ability to read and fault find from circuit diagrams and experience of inverter drives.
  • Examples of some instrumentation you could be working on are flow meters, pressure levels, ultrasonic and telemetry.
  • HNC or NVQ Qualified.
  • Knowledge of water treatment processes (desirable).

Benefits:

  • Salary of up to £40,000 p.a.

ICA TECHNICIAN

The primary role for the Technician is to ensure all equipment associated with the sewage treatment works are running safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities:

  • Inspect, maintain, test or repair SCADA and associated PLCs, instrumentation, control and automation equipment.
  • Follow robust maintenance plans as well as getting involved in minor installation projects, electrical fault finding and emergency breakdown repairs.
  • Install, modify and commission new plant equipment to relevant standards and to diagnose and repair faults on systems and plants.
  • Identify and report follow on work or areas for improvement and deliver cost effective development to assets and systems.
  • Carry out instrumentation, control and automation maintenance on a variety of wastewater assets including planned maintenance and defect maintenance.
  • Liaise with and supervise contractors and suppliers where necessary.
  • Investigation into plant failures and the implementation of repairs quickly and efficiently to avoid interruptions to the process.
  • Conduct risk assessments and create appropriate method statements.
  • Provide specialist technical advice with up to date technical knowledge.
  • Provide training support for technical trainees and support project development.

Essential requirements:

  • Qualified to HNC level in an electrical discipline.
  • A good practical understanding of operational plant and control systems is essential.
  • Have an understanding of Wonderware, ClearSCADA, relay logic and PLCs which will include management and programming.
  • Ability to read and fault find from circuit diagrams as well as previous experience of inverter drives.
  • Physical fitness with the ability to work in confined spaces.
  • Have a full driving licence as it will be necessary to travel between sites.
  • Flexibility to work on an out of hours' rota when necessary.
