Calling all motivated Chemical Engineers!

Blueprint Recruitment has an exciting new opportunity for a driven Chemical Engineer to join a an exciting organisation that specialise in the research and development of energy and natural hazard protection across Europe. As a technical lead on our client’s projects, your role will be multi-faceted, combining safe operational delivery, project and people management skills and ensuring a quality and compliant service is delivered to their customers. 

This is a permanent position located in Cumbria. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking projects in the energy and energy transitions field, involving the design and construction of major hazard facilities, experimental test rigs, and destructive testing. This role is exceptionally distinctive, offering the selected Chemical Engineer a fantastic chance to engage in large-scale, multi-year projects within the future energies sector and its distribution network.

Key responsibilities:

  • Design and construction of full-scale, major hazard, experimental test rigs
  • Creation of technical documents and scope of work packages with clients
  • Development of specifications for mechanical systems and associated equipment
  • Production of drawings and documents
  • Control of technical change and provision of technical guidance and solutions
  • Participation in design reviews and HAZID/HAZOP studies
  • Development and review of Performance Standards for Safety Critical Elements related to mechanical systems.

Key requirements

  • Degree qualified in Chemical Engineering or related field
  • Working towards or Chartered Engineer, with experience of working in an engineering organisation
  • Proficient in technical skills, with a proven ability to generate design calculations and engineering drawings, and a solid understanding of technical safety and its impact on control systems in the energy industry.
  • Adaptable and responsive, capable of proactively planning and managing multiple projects concurrently, meeting challenging deadlines while upholding high performance standards without compromising quality.
  • Possesses a commercial mindset and a solution-oriented approach, able to strategize, price, secure, and oversee new projects to completion within budget and specified timelines.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the capacity to effectively engage both specialist and non-specialist stakeholders. This includes the ability to craft clear and concise reports, analyse data rigorously, and present complex solutions and ideas convincingly.
  • Holds a UK Driving Licence.
  • Willing and able to obtain and maintain a U.K. SC Clearance
