Containment Thermal Analyst Make a difference with a world-class company An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Containment Thermal Analyst to work for Rolls-Royce SMR in Derby or Warrington on projects that will contribute to the global reduction of carbon emissions. This role offers the unique opportunity to be involved in the design project for a new nuclear power station and the establishment of a world-class testing capability. Blueprint Recruitment, working with Rolls-Royce SMR and Morson RPO, is looking for a talented and ambitious engineer to join Rolls-Royce SMR’s innovative and dynamic team. About the Company: Rolls-Royce SMR is a new business, specifically created to design, construct and deliver a new fleet of Small Modular Reactor power plants that will contribute to Net Zero carbon emissions globally. Created through Rolls-Royce’s passion for engineering excellence, and with world-class investment, this is an exciting new business which expects to become a leading player in the future of energy. About the Role: The Containment Thermal Analyst will be responsible for the technical delivery of the thermal and hydraulic performance analysis to verify containment conditions and heat removal during faulted and severe accident operations. Working alongside the systems design, LOCA analysis and Severe Accident Analysis teams, the Containment Thermal Analyst will produce thermal hydraulic analyses to characterise system performance, advise intelligent design decisions and verify the performance and safety of the final design. About You: You will be a Chartered Engineer (or similar) and will have a degree in Physics, Engineering or a related discipline. You will also have: Excellent knowledge of reactor plant thermal and hydraulic principles and calculations Expertise in thermal hydraulic analysis of the reactor plant designs, from initial concept through to detailed design definition Knowledge of Pressurised Water Reactor design, plant and behaviour Familiarity with nuclear plant analysis codes Strong planning and organisational skills Excellent interpersonal and communication skills A good understanding of Safety and UK Regulatory Affairs Key Responsibilities of the Role will be: Leading the delivery of containment analysis, which ultimately underpins the reactor plant safety case Assisting with examining the technical nature of the reactor plant and sourcing evidence needed to inform technical decision making in verifying plant performance Defining and managing requirement traceability from design through to analysis, models and method validation Guaranteeing method validation at each stage of the analysis process and providing technical expertise into the code validation programme and rig design programmes Acting as technical authority for containment analysis internally and externally to the company Understanding and articulating technical and programme risks Interfacing internally and externally as the company representative for GOTHIC and containment thermal analyses Benefits and Work Conditions: A highly competitive salary is on offer along with a performance related bonus A range of flexible benefits are available to choose from, enabling you to create a bespoke package to suit your needs Travel: the location of work can be either Derby or Warrington Flexible working / hybrid and remote working patterns are available with agreement Working hours are 37.5 hrs per week with some additional hours as and when required Rolls-Royce SMR are an equal opportunities employer For further information on this opportunity, please contact Jasmine Bailey on 02392 603030 or email jasmine.bailey@blueprintrecruit.com Alternatively, please apply directly using the “Apply” option below.

About the Role: The Thermal Hydraulics Engineer will be part of a team responsible for developing Thermal Hydraulics models, conducting performance analysis for the SMR core, primary circuit and safety systems designs and validating models against test data. This analysis work is crucial for supporting progression of the SMR design to full maturity and successfully completing the regulatory Generic Design Assessment (GDA) process. About You: You will have a degree in Engineering or a related discipline. You will also have: A strong background in fluid dynamics and heat transfer An understanding of the different types of Thermal Hydraulic analysis methods, where they can be applied and what their limitations are Familiarity with pressurised water reactor Thermal Hydraulic analysis tools, such as subchannel codes, system codes or containment analysis codes An understanding of pressurised water reactor system behaviour in normal operation and fault conditions Experience in delivering substantial technical packages of work Excellent communication, planning and organising skills to manage all activities and deliverables The ability to integrate well within a project team in a commercial environment Some knowledge and awareness of Export Control requirements is desirable Key Responsibilities of the Role will be: Building and developing thermal hydraulic models of the core, primary circuit or containment Conducting performance analysis of the plant and its safety systems to support design development and licensing Supporting the validation of the analysis methods, including development of a thermal hydraulics rigs programme and validating analysis methods against test data Monitoring progress on task activities and reporting progress against the plan Benefits and Work Conditions: A highly competitive salary is on offer along with a performance related bonus A range of flexible benefits are available to choose from, enabling you to create a bespoke package to suit your needs Travel: the location of work can be either Derby or Warrington Flexible working / hybrid and remote working patterns are available with agreement Working hours are 37.5 hrs per week with some additional hours as and when required Rolls-Royce SMR are an equal opportunities employerFor further information on this opportunity, please contact Jasmine Bailey on 02392 603030 or email jasmine.bailey@blueprintrecruit.com Alternatively, please apply directly using the “Apply” option below.
