Here at Blueprint Recruitment, we are looking for an experienced Mechanical Project Engineer to join a leading engineering contractor on a permanent basis. You will be required to work full-time in a Preston based office, with site visits to Salford also required.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work on exciting water treatment projects, as part of a highly skilled and motivated team.

 

  • Salary: Circa £55,000 + package

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver and oversee the technical governance of mechanical packages from procurement to installation and commissioning.
  • Manage MEICA procurement packages, including equipment scopes, subcontract packages, and compliance with project requirements.
  • Oversee selection and approval of pumps, valves, actuators, lifting equipment, and associated systems, ensuring all design data is verified and documented.
  • Coordinate mechanical, electrical, and civil works with the wider project delivery team.
  • Manage and track subcontractor and supplier performance against cost and programme targets, mitigating risks where necessary.
  • Conduct on-site and off-site inspections, FAT/SAT witness testing, and ensure all quality assurance procedures are followed.
  • Oversee defect management and maintenance during the defect liability period.
  • Liaise with client representatives, stakeholders, and internal teams to ensure seamless delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, including UU, WIMES, ATEX, and DSEAR.

 

What We Are Looking For:

Essential:

  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Project Engineer within the water treatment or utilities sector.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, procurement processes, and industry regulations.
  • Ability to review and approve subcontractor designs.
  • Excellent project management skills with experience managing budgets, programmes, and risks.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Relevant engineering qualifications (degree or equivalent).
  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable:

  • Experience working with water utility frameworks (UU, C2V+).
  • Familiarity with NEC contract management.
  • Experience in Clean and Wastewater operations.
