Our client, a multidisciplinary engineering consultancy, are on the hunt for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join their well-established Consultancy, in a permanent position. This opportunity provides one talented individual with the flexibility to operate on a hybrid basis, from their office in Ipswich, where you’ll be working on numerous Defence, Education, and Railway projects.

-Competitive salary ranging between £30,000-£40,000 (subject to experience).

Responsibilities:

-Design and develop detailed building services systems, from concept through to design, with a focus on mechanical system elements.

-Produce technical drawings, specifications, and equipment schedules with the use of relevant software tools, such as CAD and BIM programmes.

-Work alongside multidisciplinary professionals, ensuring smooth design and model integration into project plans, promoting constructability, transparency, and efficiency.

-Create concise performance analyses and calculations, for all mechanical works, with the use of simulation and modelling tools when required.

-Support the assessment of low-carbon and sustainable design opportunities, propose alternative design methods, and ensure that designs comply with key requirements.

Requirements:

-Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, or a related discipline.

-Demonstratable experience as a Mechanical Engineer, or a similar role, ideally with experience on Defence, Railway, and Education projects.

-Strong proficiency with mechanical design software tools.

-Excellent analytical and mechanical calculation skills, with the ability to conduct performance assessments and produce high-quality documentation.

-Solid acknowledgement of current building regulations, low-carbon efficiency strategies, and sustainability principles.
