Our client, a global engineering and consultancy, is seeking an experienced Design Manager to join their organisation on a contract basis, to help them beyond operational brilliance. The chosen applicant will be working from our client’s office in London, full-time, where you will be overseeing and managing the design and delivery of a variety of Architecture Fit-out projects, stage 5, with a focus on tunnels, shafts, and headhouses

-Competitive day rate (depending on experience).

-On-site working arrangements.

Responsibilities:

-Manage and oversee professional teams through a variety of projects, from concept through to completion, allowing for efficient delivery and project coordination.

-Oversee project regimes, team resources, and quality control, to ensure design inputs are being integrated effectively and being delivered on time and to a high standard.

-Control and maintain project systems, set timelines, distribute work to the team, and make sure that set specifications, budgets, and timeframes are being followed.

-Ensure that all works are following relevant CDM regulations, and other key standards, codes, and legislations, ensuring industry best practices and compliance.

-Coordinate with clients to present project plans and details, talking them through the development process from start to finish, ensuring transparency throughout.

-Provide guidance and support to designers, and other professionals, providing advice and feedback to strengthen their knowledge and skills.

Requirements:

-Extensive experience as a Design Manager, or a related position, ideally working on stage 5 Architecture Fit-out projects, with a focus on tunnels, headhouses, and shafts.

-Extensive portfolio of previous works proving adequacy in managing a team through the delivery of a variety of projects.

-Strong understanding of relevant software tools, such as Revit, AutoCAD and BIM workflows, and coordination procedures across multidisciplinary teams.  

-Demonstratable experience showing ability to effectively oversee design teams, focusing on performance planning, resource planning and stakeholder management.

-Solid commercial awareness, with an understanding of design budget, schedule, and risk management, whilst ensuring quality and cost goals are being met.

-Strong communication, leadership, and organisation skills, with the ability to handle several concurrent projects.
