Our client, a forward-thinking construction and engineering consultancy, are on the hunt for a seasoned Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to oversee project teams, on a permanent basis. This opportunity allows for the chosen professional to operate on-site from our client’s Winchester office, where in which a variety of Maritime, Residential, and Commercial project will be worked on. -Competitive salary of £60,000-£65,000 (depending on experience).

Responsibilities:
-Manage the development of intricate mechanical system designs, across a range of Maritime, Commercial, and Residential projects, with the use of relevant software tools.
-Establish and maintain detailed technical reports and documentation, calculations, scope estimations, and specifications.
-Liaise with multidisciplinary teams to locate design issues and implement sustainable, efficient, and low-energy solutions, ensuring proactive prevention of recurrence.
-Ensure that all on-going works align with client requirements, building and industry standards, sustainability goals, and other relevant legislation and regulations.
-Coordinate with clients, stakeholders, and other relevant project professionals, whilst taking on the Design Lead role when needed.
-Guide and support junior engineers, promoting their professional development, whilst ensuring efficient work performance, allowing for smooth project delivery.
Requirements:
-Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a similar discipline, with a chartered engineer status, or actively working towards attaining one.
-Extensive experience as a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer, or a related position, ideally working on Commercial, Maritime, and Residential projects.
-Strong demonstratable team management skills are essential, with a significant ability to build and maintain rapport with relevant project professionals and individuals.
-Solid understanding of relevant building and industry standards, sustainability goals, and other legislation and regulations.
-Proficient communication, organisational, and leadership skills, with a strong proactive and problem-solving mindset.
