Civil Engineer – Drainage & Infrastructure (Contract)

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Civil Engineer with strong drainage design experience to join a well-established engineering consultancy in London on a 6-month contract outside IR35.

This role offers the chance to work across a diverse portfolio of infrastructure and development projects, including regeneration, education, healthcare, industrial, aviation and recreational schemes.

The successful Civil Engineer will take ownership of project delivery, acting as a client-facing engineer responsible for managing design outputs, coordinating teams and delivering technically robust drainage and infrastructure solutions.

This is a hybrid role, requiring 3 days per week in the London office.

Key Responsibilities

As a Civil Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

• Leading the delivery of drainage and infrastructure design projects
• Producing and reviewing drainage calculations, drawings and technical reports
• Designing SuDS, drainage systems and water management solutions
• Managing projects from concept through to detailed design
• Acting as a client-facing engineer, attending meetings and presenting design solutions
• Coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, including structural engineers and architects
• Ensuring designs comply with industry standards, regulations and best practice
• Identifying and managing technical risks and design challenges
• Supporting project delivery within programme and budget requirements

Requirements

To be considered for this Civil Engineer role, candidates should have:

• Proven experience working as a Civil Engineer within infrastructure or development projects
• Strong experience in drainage design and water management
• Experience designing SuDS and drainage systems
• Ability to manage and deliver projects independently
• Experience in client-facing roles and stakeholder engagement
• Strong technical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and coordination abilities

Experience working across sectors such as regeneration, education, healthcare, aviation or industrial projects would be beneficial.
