Design Manager

Location: London – North Acton (Hybrid – 3 Days Office / 2 Days WFH)
Job Type: Contract – 12 Months
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Start Date: ASAP

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Design Manager to support the delivery of a major infrastructure project in London, working on complex assets including shafts, headhouses and tunnel packages.

This role will focus on Stage 5 detailed design and delivery, overseeing design packages across civils, fitout and MEP interfaces, ensuring technical coordination and successful project execution.

The successful Design Manager will take ownership of design management, package coordination and stakeholder engagement, working within a regulated delivery environment on a high-profile infrastructure programme.

This is a hybrid role based in North Acton, requiring 3 days per week in the office (non-negotiable).


Key Responsibilities

As a Design Manager, your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing Stage 5 detailed design delivery across infrastructure packages
  • Overseeing design for shafts, headhouses and tunnel-related assets
  • Acting as Asset or Package Design Manager for key project elements
  • Coordinating design across civil engineering, fitout and MEP disciplines
  • Managing design interfaces and resolving technical coordination issues
  • Ensuring design outputs meet project specifications, standards and programme requirements
  • Working within a regulated project delivery environment
  • Liaising with clients, contractors and multidisciplinary teams
  • Monitoring design progress and reporting on programme, risks and deliverables

 

 

Requirements

To be considered for this Design Manager role, candidates should have:

  • Proven experience working as a Design Manager on major infrastructure projects
  • Strong experience delivering Stage 5 detailed design
  • Experience managing design packages across civils, fitout and MEP
  • Experience working within a regulated delivery environment
  • Strong knowledge of design coordination and project delivery processes
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to manage complex design interfaces and multidisciplinary teams

Essential / Required Certifications:

  • CSCS – White Professionally Qualified Person
  • SEATS (Site Environmental Awareness Training Scheme) (or willingness to obtain)

Contract Details

  • 12-month contract
  • Inside IR35 
  • Hybrid working – 3 days per week in North Acton office (mandatory)
  • 37.5 hours per week
