Electrical Design Engineer – Theatre Project / Site & Commissioning (Contract)

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to support the delivery of a live theatre refurbishment project in Dartford, working across site delivery, design updates and commissioning.

This role offers a unique mix of site-based engineering and remote design work, supporting a project through final stages, including site phasing, technical queries and commissioning activities.

The successful Electrical Design Engineer will initially shadow the current engineer for handover, before taking ownership of site queries, design revisions and commissioning support.

Key Responsibilities

As an Electrical Design Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting delivery of an electrical building services project within a live theatre environment
• Managing site queries, technical issues and design updates
• Reviewing and implementing design changes based on site conditions
• Supporting site phasing and coordination activities
• Producing updated electrical design drawings and documentation
• Supporting witnessing and commissioning of electrical systems
• Collaborating with contractors and project teams on-site and remotely
• Ensuring designs comply with UK standards and project specifications

Requirements

To be considered for this Electrical Design Engineer role, candidates should have:

• Proven experience working as an Electrical Design Engineer within building services
• Strong experience with site-based project delivery and design coordination
• Experience supporting commissioning and witnessing activities
• Ability to manage site queries and design revisions
• Strong understanding of electrical systems and UK regulations
• Experience using electrical design software (e.g. Amtech, Dialux, AutoCAD)

Essential:

• Ability to operate outside IR35
• Must have own hardware and design software

Desirable:

• Experience working on theatre, refurbishment or live environment projects
• Experience with site phasing and staged delivery projects

• Initial 4-month contract (with potential extension)

• £42–£47 per hour
• Hybrid working – 3 days on site (Dartford), remainder remote
• Handover period included starting early May
