An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to join a leading engineering consultancy delivering a diverse range of infrastructure and development projects across the UK.
This Senior Civil Engineer role is ideal for someone with extensive experience in drainage design who enjoys taking projects from concept through to detailed design. You'll be responsible for producing hydraulic calculations, flood risk assessments and drainage strategies while liaising with key stakeholders including water companies, the Environment Agency and Lead Local Flood Authorities.
The successful Senior Civil Engineer will work predominantly remotely, with just one day per month required in the London office, making this an excellent opportunity for experienced drainage engineers seeking greater flexibility.
The Role
As a Senior Civil Engineer, you'll be responsible for:
- Delivering drainage designs from concept through to detailed design
- Producing hydraulic calculations, technical reports and engineering specifications
- Preparing Flood Risk Assessments (FRA) and drainage strategies
- Designing sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) and surface water management solutions
- Undertaking foul and surface water drainage design
- Liaising with water companies, the Environment Agency and Lead Local Flood Authorities
- Preparing applications and supporting technical approvals
- Coordinating with multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Ensuring designs comply with current UK regulations and industry standards
This Senior Civil Engineer position offers the opportunity to work on technically challenging infrastructure projects within a highly flexible remote working environment.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for an experienced Senior Civil Engineer with a strong drainage design background.
Ideally, you'll have:
- Previous experience as a Senior Civil Engineer or Civil Engineer specialising in drainage
- Extensive experience delivering drainage designs from concept through to detailed design
- Strong knowledge of MicroDrainage, InfoDrainage and Causeway Flow
- Experience producing hydraulic calculations and Flood Risk Assessments
- Good understanding of SuDS, Section 104 and drainage approval processes
- Experience liaising with statutory bodies including water companies, the Environment Agency and Lead Local Flood Authorities
- Excellent report writing and communication skills
- Ability to manage projects independently
The following would be advantageous:
- Experience working on residential, commercial or infrastructure developments
- Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status (or working towards)
- Knowledge of UK planning and drainage legislation
