Archaeology Survey Project Manager


Key responsibilities:

  • To oversee, manage and take responsibility for the completion of all works to deliver on-time the Archaeology Pre-Construction Works for the EA HUB project.

  • To fully discharge the obligations set out in the WSI (written scheme of investigation) to the satisfaction of Suffolk County Council.

  • Budget holder for the Archaeology Survey works, responsible for commercial reporting, among others.

  • To ensure Daily / Weekly / Monthly reporting is completed on time, and clearly reflects progress on site.

  • Act as client role on site, not just overseeing, but supporting the appointed contractors in the delivery of their scope.

  • To ensure site level coordination between Scottish power teams and functions, including but not limited to:

    • Archaeology technical advisors,

    • Archaeology survey personnel,

    • Environmental team,

    • Land and Estates team,

    • Stakeholders team,

    • H&S,

  • Ensuring all company and project Health, Safety and Environmental procedures and policies are followed.

  • Ensuring the construction arrangements and methodologies of all contractors form a coherent and optimised approach that meets all project, company and legal requirements.

  • Act as a safety leader on site, ensuing all personnel on site follow the sites safe system of work and processes. 


    Key criteria

  • Significant experience in project management including variations and claims;

  • 8 years’ experience in major UK onshore infrastructure construction projects;

  • Detailed understanding of 3rd party and land agreements, consent planning and/or discharge of conditions;

  • Expert knowledge of UK building regulations, construction details, and relevant rules, regulations, and quality standards;

  • Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation related to construction;

  • Proven ability to lead and work in a team and contractors environment;

  • Proficient in Microsoft suite of products (excel, word, PowerPoint, teams);

  • Working knowledge of CAD and GIS software;
