A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an Environmental Advisor to join a well-renowned Utility and Energy contractor based in Nottinghamshire.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and competent Environmental Advisor to join our client's ‘Transmission Networks Division’ – focusing on high profile overhead line projects taking place across the UK.

As the Environmental Advisor your duties & responsibilities will be:

  • Providing specialist support in environmental risks, advice, training, standard controls and mitigation through project tendering, Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) and construction stages of a project
  • Researching, reviewing and gathering required information in order to produce project documentation
  • Reviewing specialist documentation, such as consents, RAMS, ecological method statements, tender information etc. to advise and guide project and bids teams
  • Working with the Environment and Sustainability Manager, wider business unit, sector and group to deliver sustainability targets and commitments
  • Assisting in the review and continual improvement of the Environmental Management System (EMS)
  • Liaising with client, regulatory bodies, stakeholders, community groups and identified individuals
  • Directly obtaining, or assisting in the obtaining of, consents, assents, licences and permits required to undertake works
  • Carrying out routine site visits, including surveys, inspections and audits. Output to include survey reports, inspection reports, actions and any other required documentation to drive continual improvement
  • Collating and reporting on SHEQ statistics and ensuring data integrity as required, including the preparation of reports and statistics

Skills & Knowledge Requirements:

  • Interest in environment / sustainability issues
  • Excellent verbal and demonstrable written communication skills
  • The ability to build rapport and influence others to make decisions
  • The ability to effectively converse and deliver information to the level of the audience
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • The ability to problem solve to make educated and pragmatic decisions
  • Demonstrable research and analytical skills
  • A valid driving licence within the UK and willingness to travel
