Our client is a worldwide manufacturing organisation who are looking for a HV System Design Manager to join their team in the Southampton Area. The HV Systems Design team are responsible for undertaking complex HV cable systems design and supporting the HV business in winning tenders and undertaking contracts for transmission and windfarm projects in the UK.  

This position is to both manage the team and also undertake the specialist system design activities required for tenders and contracts. Short duration travel to other plants or customers premises or sites in the UK and Europe may occasionally be required. 




  • Departmental resource and cost management in delivering tenders and contracts. 

  • Proposing technical details and cost effective cable system design proposals for 
    customer enquiries.  

  • Providing engineering support during contract execution. 

  • Working closely with the Utilities Engineering Manager and other Utilities engineering 
    teams for contracts and tenders. 

  • Ensuring the maintenance of records of contracts for future reference 

  • Liaison with other Affiliate Design teams as necessary to support the UK 

  • Participation in Group Design coordination meetings and activities 

  • Development and management of System Design Engineers in the Design Group 

  • Development and management of design tools for HV Systems Design. 

  • Provides technical support, training and services to internal functions and customers. 

  • Enabling Company participation in relevant standards and industry bodies. 

  • Undertake activities in support of marketing and promotion of the Company



  • Degree Qualified in Electrical Engineering or a similar discipline.

  • Organised, self-motivated with good written and oral communication skills.

  • Experience of technical working with HV cable systems is required.

  • Previous management experience would be an advantage.
