Our client is a multi-national consultancy based in London, providing engineering design planning across all aspects of the built environment, including the water industry. They are currently looking for an experienced Principal Process Engineer to join their Water team in Cardiff.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to help lead their municipal wastewater treatment schemes, varying from feasibility to detailed design. You will be part of a multidisciplinary design team collaborating with civil, mechanical, electrical engineers and construction partners to deliver wastewater treatment schemes from initial selection through to commissioning. This role is very client-focused – you will be expected to bring the client along with the design process, inform them of key design decisions and communicate progress.
Role:

Adopt the Principal process engineer role in the execution of: process audits, investigations, feasibility studies, outline and detailed design of drinking water treatment works and associated systems

Be responsible for developing client briefs into executable projects, and to deliver costed proposals

Present ideas and concepts to clients. Demonstrating technical ability and competence is essential for the role

Take an active role in client meetings, facilitate and take part in HAZOP studies and present project outputs and proposals to clients

Be responsible for planning work activities and resource requirements

Ensure technical quality is maintained by managing the review process and production
Skills/Experience:
Essential Skills and Knowledge:
-
An excellent understanding of treatment solutions for wastewater schemes, looking at phosphate removal, growth, UWWTD drivers and other consent modifications

Experience of working in, or leading, multi-disciplinary engineering teams to ensure the production of deliverables to agreed timelines and within budget

A flexible thinker with a focus on continual improvement, and a desire and the ability to share knowledge and proactively mentor and manage teams and individuals

A recognised Subject Matter Expert in the field of water process engineering
Desirable Skills and Knowledge:

Commissioning and process optimisation experience

Process safety DSEAR, ATEX

Anaerobic treatment or sustainable and zero-carbon approaches to Process design

A desire to explore new digital and data-driven solutions to our client's problems

Commercial awareness and a willingness to learn about the business side of their operations

Experience in leading teams to achieve great outcomes
Qualifications
- Chartered Engineer
- CSCS card
- National water hygiene training (desirable)
