About the Role:
The Test Rig Mechanical and EC&I Team Lead engineer will be responsible for building and leading a team of talented design engineers developing a variety of exciting and complex test rigs to verify the design of the SMR Power Station.
The Development Engineering organisation itself has responsibilities for proving that the SMR power station design meets its objectives and requirements. This will encompass the area of nuclear engineering as well as the broader scope of delivering a major infrastructure project.
You will be a Chartered Engineer (or working towards professional accreditation), Physical Sciences or a related discipline. You will also have:
Excellent knowledge of the bespoke design of mechanical systems and their associated control systems.
Experience of technical and project leadership in a relevant field.
Strong planning and organisational skills and great communication skills.
A willingness to challenge conventional thinking, with the desire to make a difference.
Key Responsibilities of the Role will be:
Build and lead a talented team of Mechanical and EC&I design engineers to develop test rigs from preliminary concept through to detailed design and operation.
Develop the team members through coaching, training, and performance management.
Provide leadership to support the generation of Engineering assessments, Safety assessments and design documentations such as P&IDs.
Provide technical leadership, to set a high standard in the application of systems and process engineering techniques to ensure optimal designs for test rigs.
Represent the Test Capability Manager at relevant technical and programme reviews.

Travel: the location of work can be either Derby or Warrington.
Flexible working / hybrid and remote working patterns are available with agreement.
Working hours are 37.5 hrs per week with some additional hours as and when required.
