Senior Design Manager – Water & Wastewater

Locations: Leeds, Warrington & Sheffield (Hybrid working options available)

Salary: £75k-£85k + car allowance & bonus

About the Opportunity

A leading engineering solutions provider in the water treatment sector is seeking a Senior Design Manager to join their dynamic, multi-disciplinary team.

You will be overseeing the full design life cycle of wastewater treatment projects, from concept and detailed design through to construction handover. You will lead a team of engineers and consultants, fostering a collaborative, “one-team” culture while driving innovation and sustainability in every project.

What You’ll Do

-Lead and coordinate multi-disciplinary design teams on water and wastewater infrastructure projects.

-Oversee design budgets, programmes, and quality standards to ensure successful project delivery.

-Work closely with clients, representatives, and stakeholders to develop effective engineering solutions.

-Ensure health, safety, environmental, and sustainability standards are fully integrated into designs.

-Represent the business at design reviews, HAZOPs, and key stakeholder meetings.

-Provide mentorship, training, and resource planning to grow and strengthen your team.

-Drive continuous improvement by sharing lessons learned and innovative approaches.

What We’re Looking For

-Experience: 5+ years in a similar role, ideally within the water or wastewater sector.

-Technical Expertise: Strong background in civil or process engineering (e.g., tank systems, earthworks, process units, M&E installations).

-Qualifications: Degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or Environmental Engineering

-Knowledge of construction safety regulations (e.g., PSDP coordination) is highly desirable.

-Skilled in programme management tools (e.g., Microsoft Project) and proficient with MS Office Suite.

-Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.

-Full driving licence required.
