Are you a motivated Senior Mechanical Engineer looking for a new challenge?

Blueprint recruitment is looking to speak with motivated Senior Mechanical Engineers to join our client in Bristol on a hybrid basis. As the successful Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring that projects which require a mechanical input are correctly defined, designed, installed, and completed. 

This will be an all-encompassing role working on a variety of engineering schemes such as Pumping Stations (new & refurbishments) and Treatment Works upgrades, working on multiple concurrent projects. With just 1-2 days per week office presence, this is an opportunity you don’t want to miss!

Key responsibilities:

  • Offering technical leadership and oversight for projects requiring mechanical design input, ensuring adherence to project scopes and standards, and facilitating stakeholder engagement as necessary.
  • Reviewing, providing comments on, and approving designs executed by Contractors and Consultants.
  • Conducting essential design activities within the area of expertise, developing designs that align with technical standards and prioritise safety and efficiency in construction, commissioning, operation, maintenance, and dismantling.
  • Generating design, tender, contract, and as-built documentation (including drawings, scopes, and specifications) through collaborative efforts with the broader Engineering team and our supply chain partners.
  • Supporting the Procurement team by offering specialized technical expertise in evaluating tender returns and quotations.
  • Providing technical support to the Asset Team for the development of Business Cases requiring mechanical engineering input.
  • Furnishing technical advice to various parts of the business, including Contractors, and conducting post-construction snagging.

Key requirements:

  • Hands-on experience in designing mechanical engineering solutions within an industrial setting.
  • Serving as a Technical Authority to assist the Company in upholding the Mechanical Specification, ensuring project compliance, and evaluating the technical ramifications of project modifications.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD 2020 or later at a fundamental level. Familiarity with regulations and standards pertaining to mechanical design and construction.
  • Strong communication skills, encompassing both spoken and written English, coupled with computer literacy.
  • Insight into and an appreciation for the dynamics of project environments.
  • Possession of a Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent, preferably with CEng statusfrom a relevant professional institution.
  • Comprehensive understanding of systems, plants, and processes employed in municipal water treatment and industrial contexts.
