Job Title: M&E Project Manager Location: Birmingham (Office-Based During Design Phase) Job Type: Contract Duration: 12 Months Hours: 40 per week Rate: £450–£550 per day Start Date: 30 March Overview An opportunity has arisen for an experienced M&E Project Manager to support the delivery of a major infrastructure development in Birmingham. This role will initially focus on the design development and coordination phase, supporting the transition from early-stage designs to detailed, buildable construction information. Following the design phase, the successful candidate will transition to a site-based project management role, working as part of a team overseeing the construction delivery. This position is ideally suited to a project manager with a strong mechanical and electrical (M&E) background and experience coordinating complex building services packages on large-scale projects. Key Responsibilities Design Development & Coordination · Manage the progression from high-level design concepts to detailed for-construction drawings · Coordinate subcontractor design packages to ensure buildability and alignment with the overall project design · Review technical submissions and ensure design information meets programme requirements Subcontractor & Package Management · Work with specialist subcontractors such as HVAC, façade and building services contractors · Ensure design outputs align with project specifications and technical requirements Interface Management · Coordinate interfaces between key project elements, including structural, façade and building services packages · Identify and resolve design clashes before construction Approval & Compliance · Manage submission of design documentation to the professional team for review and approval · Ensure compliance with building regulations, project specifications and quality standards Risk Management · Identify technical and programme risks during design development · Implement mitigation strategies to avoid delays or cost impacts · Support technical resolution of design challenges Project Lifecycle · Phase 1: Design development and coordination (initial project stage) · Phase 2: Transition to site-based project management, working alongside a team of project managers overseeing construction delivery Requirements · Proven experience as a Project Manager within M&E or Building Services projects · Experience managing design coordination and technical subcontractor package · Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical building services systems · Experience working on large-scale construction or infrastructure projects · Strong stakeholder management and coordination skills · Ability to manage complex technical interfaces across multiple packages Candidate Profile You will be an experienced M&E Project Manager who is comfortable managing both the design development phase and construction delivery of complex building services packages.
