Mechanical Design Engineer – Building Services (Contract) Location: London (Hybrid Working) Rate: £40–£45 per hour (Outside IR35) Job Type: Contract – Initial 3 Months Hours: 37.5 hours per week Start Date: ASAP An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join a well-established building services consultancy in London on an initial 3-month contract outside IR35. This role will support the delivery of commercial and residential building projects, contributing to the development of mechanical building services designs across RIBA Stage 3 and Stage 4. The successful Mechanical Design Engineer will play a key role in producing technical designs, calculations and coordinated building services solutions, working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver high-quality projects. These positions offer the chance to work on large-scale data centre developments, overseeing the installation, commissioning and delivery of electrical building services systems within mission-critical environments. The successful Electrical Resident Engineers will act as the on-site technical authority, ensuring electrical systems are delivered in line with design specifications, programme requirements and quality standards. This role will initially focus on the design development and coordination phase, supporting the transition from early-stage designs to detailed, buildable construction information. Following the design phase, the successful candidate will transition to a site-based project management role, working as part of a team overseeing the construction delivery. This position is ideally suited to a project manager with a strong mechanical and electrical (M&E) background and experience coordinating complex building services packages on large-scale projects.
